Local volleyballers spike their way to silver at provincial finals

Not bad for the first try.

The Sault's Steel City Ignite U15 Flames walked away from their first-ever Ontario volleyball championship with a silver medal.

The three-day competition went from Thursday April 25 to Saturday April 27.

The Steel City Ignite 15U Flames remained undefeated during the two days of pool play advancing to the quarter-finals seeded first in their division.  

During the quarter-finals Steel City defeated the Wildcat Pumas from Markham in 2 straight sets (25-5), (25-16) advancing them to the semifinal game against Niagara Rapids Rampage. 

Ignite Flames Won in 2 sets (25-23),(25-19) landing them a spot to play in the Finals.  

In the Gold medal game, the Steel City Ignite Flames lost in 3 close sets to the Reach Aces from Markham (23-25) (25-16), (13-15). 

Head Coach Danielle Oak-Brown and Assistant Coach Joe Lemieux couldn't be prouder of the girls after a season of great development both on and off the court!
