The Searchmont Ski Runners (SSR) in partnership with Searchmont Ski Association Inc. are preparing for the Annual Mealey Classic which will take place at Searchmont Ski Resort this Family Day long weekend. The races begin on Feb. 15 and continue until Feb. 18.

“Searchmont Resort is excited to partner with the Searchmont Ski Runners (SSR) on this incredible event. The Searchmont Ski Runners volunteers are incredible, and the skills and knowledge they bring to the Race creates a dynamic and well run event. We wish all the athletes the best of luck, and thank SSR for all the the great work they do at the Mountain,” said general manager Colin Wilson.

The annual event is named after Brian Mealey, who coached the Alpine Program for over 40 years and continues to be an inspiration to racers across the country. Over 190 racers from across Ontario in the U12, U14, U16, U18 divisions will brave one of the most challenging courses in the province.

"The Mealey race is always an anticipated event for SSR when the dedicated efforts all come together for a great race weekend. This year’s Mealey is especially exciting, as a large group of our racers will be positioning themselves at the race start and participating for the first time. Searchmont is known to put on some of the best races in northern Ontario and we ring those cow bells loud and with pride," said Tricia Lesnick, SSR representative.
