The North Stars rebounded from a 3-2 overtime loss on Saturday night to hammer the Flyers 8-1 on Sunday afternoon in Great North Midget League action in Kapuskasing.

The North Stars record improves to 12 wins and two overtimes losses, worth a point each, for 26 points in 14 games. The first place North Stars hold a six point lead over the Timmins Major Midgets.

On Sunday, the North Stars led by scores of 3-0 after one period and 6-0 after two.

Michael D'Agostini led the attack with three goals and two assists. Tyler Gendron and Michael Sharp scored two goals each.

Matt Caria scored once while Paul Dupont, Jake McCLelland and Adam Kauppi added two assists each. Michael Maulucci recorded the win in net.

On Saturday, Caria and Lucas Goodall scored for the North Stars while Zack Torquato added two assists.

D'Agostini leads the North Stars in scoring with 11 goals and 15 assists for 26 points, good for a share of third spot among the league point leaders.

Sharp has scored 13 goals and added 10 assists for 23 points, good for fourth in the league, while Kauppi has nine goals and 13 assists for 22 points to sit fifth overall.

Maulucci leads the league in goaltending with a 1.83 goals-against-average, nearly a full goal lower than the rest of league, in nine games.

The North Stars do not return to GNML action until November 8 and 9 when they host the North Bay Trappers at 7 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively, at the John Rhodes Community Centre.
