Ontario Cup Soccer wrapped up in Sault Ste. Marie over the weekend with action in the Under-13 and Under-12 Girls divisions.
In the Under-13 Division, the Hi-Tec Security Sault Civics opened the tournament on Saturday in fine fashion with a 6-1 victory over Oshawa.
The Burlington Challenge opened the tournament at the same time and picked up a 3-1 win over Aurora. Later in the day, Oshawa picked up a 1-0 victory over Sudbury.
The Sault Civics team then dropped a hard fought 1-0 decision to Burlington, a loss that was crucial in the end. The final Under-13 Division game on Saturday saw Aurora beat Sudbury 2-1.
On Sunday, Oshawa and Aurora opened the day with a 0-0 tie, while Burlington and Sudbury battled to a 1-1 tie.
Hi-Tec Security proceeded to beat Aurora 3-0 but a 1-0 Burlington win over Oshawa cut off the chances of the locals moving on. The locals capped off the tournament with a 2-1 loss at the hands of Sudbury.
Burlington was the eventual tournament winner, finishing with three wins and a tie for the tournament.
In the Under-12 Division, the Sault Civics got off to a tough start and had trouble recovering as they finished the tournament with a win and three losses.
The locals opened the tournament with a 7-0 loss to London, who were the eventual champions.
Other early games on day one included Mississauga and Scarborough battling to a 0-0 draw and London knocking off Sudbury later in the day by a 1-0 score.
The locals capped off the first day of their schedule with a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Mississauga. Scarborough beat Sudbury 2-0 in the final game on Saturday in the division.
On Sunday, London continued their dominance with a 5-0 win over Scarborough while Mississauga beat Sudbury 2-0.
The Sault Civics first game of the day was a 2-0 loss to Scarborough. London beat Mississauga 1-0 later in the day and the locals finished the tournament with a 2-1 win over Sudbury.
London, who finished the tournament a perfect 4-0, won the tournament without giving up a single goal over the four games.
