Playoff round ready to rock the ice at Fall Classic

Quarterfinal action kicks off the final day of the four-day tournament on Sunday

The quarterfinal matchups are set at the second annual Henderson Metal Fall Classic.

The four-day event is heading into the final day of action on Sunday with the eight playoff round qualifiers determined.

Matt Dunstone’s Manitoba-based rink, also the defending champion, earned one of two A Qualifier spots in the triple knockout event.

The Dunstone rink features Sault Ste. Marie’s Ryan Harnden at lead.

Also coming out of the A Qualifier was Switzerland’s Philipp Hoesli.

Mark Kean’s Ontario-based rink as well as Saskatchewan’s Mike McEwen advanced to quarterfinal play from the B Qualifier.

After facing elimination from the tournament in the C Qualifier, which included teams with two losses, John Epping, Joel Retornaz, Brad Gushue, and Reid Carruthers won their qualifying games to advance to the playoff round.

Quarterfinal games are set to begin at 8:30 a.m. Sunday with semifinal play to follow at 12:30 p.m. and the remaining two teams battling it out in the final at 4 p.m.
