Jeff Rainville continued his attack on NOJHL goaltending Friday night at Memorial Gardens and this time Sudbury Northern Wolves' goalie Danny Battachio was the victim.
Ranville led the Soo Junior Greyhounds attack with three goals, to give him 23 on the season, in a 5-2 win over the Northern Wolves.
Rainville leads the NOJHL in scoring with 30 points in just nine games on the season. The win catapulted the Junior Hounds into a second place tie with the Northern Wolves, with each team now having 20 points, one behind the league leading North Bay Skyhawks.
The game was well played by both clubs and aside from three fights, was virtually penalty free with just two power plays being handed out by referee Craig Coletti, one to each team.
The Jr. Hounds managed to capitalize on their man-advantage midway through the third period on Rainville's second goal of the night.
Mark Evans rounded out the scoring for the Jr. Hounds with a pair of goals.
Jr. Hounds' goaltender Shane Bellini stopped 33 shots in the win, which improves the Soo's record to 10-3-0-0, while the Northern Wolves record drops to 10-5-0-0.
