Steelhawks top Wolverines in senior football

The Superior Heights Steelhawks moves to 2-2 on the senior high school football season Friday night.

The Steelhawks picked up 49-20 victory over the White Pines Wolverines Friday at Superior Heights.

Daikaden Gauthier had a pair of touchdown runs for the Steelhawks, running the ball in from 92 yards out in addition to a 14-yard touchdown run.

Gauthier had 172 yards rushing on 14 carries and an interception defensively.

Tye Rushon ran the ball in from three yards out for a touchdown while Ben Trevisanut also had a touchdown run of three yards,

Max Shillingford returned a kick for a 98-yard touchdown as well for Superior Heights in the victory.

On the defensive side, Dylan Wooton returned an interception 54 yards for a touchdown.

Daxyn Pringle hit field goals of 35 and 39 yards and kicked five converts for the Steelhawks while Will Middaugh had a two-point convert for Superior Heights.

Maximo Eshkibok had seven tackles and Kolt Yeaman had 6.5 tackles defensively in the win.

White Pines quarterback Garrin Pine completed 10 of 20 pass attempts for 147 yards and three touchdowns.

Receiver Nashoba Moore caught four passes for 103 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Moore caught touchdown passes of 17 and 32 yards.

Tristen Holzworth had a 24-yard touchdown catch and finished the night with a pair of catches for 53 yards.

Ethan McCorkell hit a pair of converts for the Wolverines and chipped in with 7.5 tackles defensively.

Steve Day-Nolan added 5.5 tackles defensively for White Pines.
