SUBWAY WINS SUMMER HOOPS CROWN

Subway got 12 points from Jamie Ross and eight apiece from B.J. Denneny, Matt King, Trevor LaForrest and Patrick Murray to upend Aurora's 51-42 and win the boys division championship of the Algoma Basketball Association summer league on Sunday.

Joey Lamon and Thomas Mathew had 10 points each to lead Aurora's, while Josh Pallot and Phil Ruicci both contributed seven. Subway had advanced to the title game with a 58-28 win over Brody's led by Murray's 18 points, 16 from King and 14 from Denneny. Marc Hindermeier and Mike Davey had nine points each for Brody's, which played the game without scoring leader Miguel Gauthier. Aurora's had moved on with a 48-40 win over Sault This Week in the other semi-final as Lamon scored 15 points and Pallott and Andrew Ross both contributed 10. Michael Jurich and Mike Oliveira led Sault This Week with 14 points apiece. Subway finished first during the regular season with a 7-3 record. Aurora's and Sault This Week were both 6-4 followed by Brody's at 1-9.
