Amanda Evans scored 15 points as the White Pines Wolverines avoided elimination and forced a tie-breaker for the fourth-and-final playoff spot in the senior girls high school basketball league with a clutch 37-30 win over the home court Mount St. Joseph Royals on Tuesday. Jessica Stone led the Royals with seven points. The Wolverines end the regular season with a 4-8 record and have a bye heading into the final night of the regular season schedule on Thursday. The Mount, Bawating and Korah are all now 3-8 after Tuesday's action and will be looking to gain the tiebreaker with White Pines. Tonight, Bawating is at the Mount, with the winner moving into a tie with White Pines. Korah can force a three-way tie for the last playoff spot by beating Sir James Dunn on Thursday. The Eagles, with a 5-6 record, have clinched third place. In Tuesday's other games: St. Basil improved to 11-0 as Heidi Jaaskelainen tallied 19 points in a 53-39 Saints' win over Korah. Lauren Podolski led the Colts with 14 points. And Jen Muio scored 11 points as the St. Mary's Knights improved to 10-1 with a 50-31 win over Bawating, which got nine points from Kristen Timusk.
