Day of events for the whole family in support of the Algoma Autism Foundation
Highland Ford is uniting the Sault Ste. Marie community, together with the Algoma Autism Foundation, for the 2nd annual Ride for Autism on Saturday, June 13, 2015. The day will see several family friendly activities, including a bike race, off-roading with Ford F-150s, live music, raffles, children’s activities and Ford Motor Company of Canada Ltd.’s innovative Drive 4 UR Community program, with all proceeds going to the Algoma Autism Foundation.
“Autism is near and dear to the hearts of all of us here at Highland Ford,” said Darren Smyl, dealer principal, Highland Ford. “We have employees who demonstrate absolute strength on a daily basis as they care for family members with autism.”
The motorcycle ride starts at Highland Ford and ends at Runway Park where the activities and fun await. After the ride, community members can participate in the Drive 4 UR Community event where, for every person who test drives a Ford vehicle, Ford Motor Company of Canada will donate $20. There will also be a BBQ, bouncy castles and other children’s activities, great prizes to be won and live performances by Late Shift Redundant and Tyrn Morrison. Last year’s event raised over $10,000 and this year’s goal is to surpass that.
“It will be a fun-filled day for the whole family and all for a great cause,” said Smyl. “Ride for Autism day is an opportunity for Highland Ford to give back to the community we love and provide exciting experiences like taking an F-150 off-roading or sitting back to enjoy great entertainment.”
Since the start of Ford’s Drive 4 UR School and Community programs in 2010, the programs have generated more than $3 million in donations for schools and charities in Canada.
