On May 6, 7, and 8, Sault College will be welcoming approximately 900 Grade 8 students from the Sault Ste. Marie area to help them get a glimpse into what a future at Sault College could be like!

During their visit, Grade 8 students from both the Algoma District School Board (ADSB) and the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board (HSCDSB) will have the opportunity to enjoy hands-on, interactive learning experiences in program areas such as: Health, Justice Studies, Transportation, Technology, Skilled Trades, Natural Environment and Outdoor Studies, Culinary, Hairstyling, Esthetician and Media and Design.

In its seventh year, the grade 8 tours provide students with an early awareness of the many programs offered at Sault College. “Grade 8 tours are always an exciting time of year for our College,” said Colin Kirkwood, vice president, Academic and Research.

“The tours provide an excellent opportunity for us to showcase all of the amazing programs we offer, answer questions, and create excitement around post-secondary opportunities,” he added.

The grade 8 tours are just one of the many projects led by the School College Work Initiative (SCWI). The SCWI is instrumental in helping to create awareness of college programs among elementary and secondary school students.

Working in collaboration with ADSB and HSCDSB, Sault College organizes many SCWI projects, such as: Dual Credit course opportunities for Grade 11 and 12 students and teacher forums.

For more information on Sault College’s SCWI or the Grade 8 tours, please contact Karen Gauthier at 705-759-2554 extension 2485.
