On May 7, 8, and 9, Sault College will be welcoming  approximately 900 Grade 8 students from the Sault Ste. Marie area to help them get a glimpse into what their future could be like at Sault College!

During their visit, grade 8 students from both the Algoma District School Board (ADSB) and the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board (HSCDSB) will have the opportunity to enjoy hands-on, interactive learning experiences in program areas such as: Health, Justice Studies, Transportation, Technology, Skilled Trades, Natural Environment and Outdoor Studies, Culinary, Hairstyling, Esthetician and Media and Design!

In its sixth year, the Grade 8 tours provide students with an early awareness of the many exciting programs offered at Sault College.

“The College is very excited to open its doors and welcome grade 8 students to our College,” said Colin Kirkwood, Vice President, Academic and Research. “The tours provide an excellent opportunity for the students to explore college programs that interest them, ask questions, and create excitement around post-secondary opportunities,” he added.

The grade 8 tours are just one of the many projects led by the School College Work Initiative (SCWI). The SCWI is instrumental in helping to create awareness of college programs among elementary and secondary school students.

Working in collaboration with ADSB and HSCDSB, Sault College organizes many SCWI projects, such as: Dual Credit course opportunities for Grade 11 and 12 students and teacher forums.
