Over the past three years, the AffordAbility Fund Trust Program (AFT) has served many Ontarians who struggled to afford their electricity but did not qualify for low-income programs. AFT in partnership with PUC Services Inc. have worked together to help customers improve energy efficiencies, serving approximately 6,292 customers within PUC service areas to date.

This saved customers a total of 12 GWh, which is enough to power 1052 homes a year. PUC and local contractors appreciate the remarkable uptake from the communities we serve as we continue to work through each application.

As application volumes continued to accelerate this year and over the past few months, AFT has announced that they will be stopping intake for the program, effective July 31, 2020. After this date, they will continue to process and fulfill applications for those who have applied online by the deadline, but will no longer be accepting any more in-bound calls or rolling back any applications for additional measures from that date forward.

Customers can apply for the AffordAbility Fund Program before July 31 by visiting affordabilityfund.org or calling 1-855-494-FUND.

PUC is committed to assisting customers with conservation efforts and supporting those who are struggling to pay their electricity bills.

If you do not qualify for the AffordAbility Fund, below is a list of other Ontario support programs to help ease your electricity burden:

1. Ontario Electricity Support Program (OESP)

2. The Save on Energy Home Assistance Program (HAP)

3. The Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP)

4. The COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program (CEAP)
