New York Rangers defenceman Kevin Klein has retired after playing parts of 12 seasons in the NHL. The Rangers announced the retirement of the 32-year-old on Friday.

VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Canucks have signed forward Joseph LaBate to a one-year, two-way contract. LaBate, 24, made 13 appearances with the Canucks in 2016-17, debuting Nov. 23 at Arizona.

EDMONTON — The Edmonton Oilers have signed veteran forward Jussi Jokinen to a one-year contract. The 34-year-old Finn had 28 points (11 goals, 17 assists) and 39 penalty minutes in 69 games with Florida last season.

DALLAS — The Dallas Stars have re-signed forward Brett Ritchie to a $3.5 million, two-year contract. Ritchie had 16 goals and eight assists in 78 games last season, with a team-best rating of plus-11.

MONTREAL — Alex Galchenyuk is looking forward to a bounce-back season with the Montreal Canadiens.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Forward Nick Shore has re-signed with the Los Angeles Kings, agreeing to a one-year deal for $925,000. The Kings announced the deal with the restricted free agent Thursday.

VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Canucks have hired Darryl Seward as video coach.

ARLINGTON, Va. — Backup goaltender Philipp Grubauer has agreed to a $1.5 million, one-year contract with the Washington Capitals. The team announced Thursday that it had re-signed its last remaining restricted free agent.

MONTREAL — Goaltender Charlie Lindgren agreed to a one-year, two-way contract with the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday. Lindgren, 23, has played the last two years with Montreal's AHL team and is expected to play there again this season.
