April 29, 1935 - April 17, 2024
We are saddened to announce the peaceful passing of our beautiful, warm, and caring mother on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at ARCH Hospice with her children by her side.
Predeceased by her husband Brian Hadath, sisters Mary Melville and Susan Brophy, parents Rose and Frank Arabia.
Ellen leaves behind her son, Cal Eyjolfson (Marg Cliff), daughter Denise Courchaine (Stephen MacKay), stepdaughter Cathy Jones (Grant) and step-son Brian Hadath JR. Also left to mourn, 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
Ellen was raised in an Italian household in Thunder Bay, married at a young age and started her family. She worked in retail in those days, first at Eatons and then Sears.
After divorcing, Ellen independently lived her life as a single parent until she met her love, Brian Hadath. The couple married in 1973 and enjoyed many wonderful years together, they both looked forward to a round of golf. Sadly, Brian passed from Alzheimer's Disease in April of 2017.
Ellen had a great sense of style, always looking her best regardless of the occasion. She had a strong, no-nonsense and zestful approach to life. She remained very active, enjoying down hill skiing, golfing and lots of fun times with friends. Mom always understood the importance and value of having friends of all ages and treasured all those she met along the way.
Ellen was also a gifted and accomplished artist. She has been honoured with many Art Awards over the years for her creations. Mom had a passion for watercolour, which some would say was spontaneous and creative. She was always experimenting with her paintings, never afraid to see where the strokes would take her.
Ellen Hadath A LIFE WELL LIVED.
Mom, we’ll see you on the other side!
As per mom’s wishes there will not be a funeral, so we have decided on a small celebration on what would have been her 89th birthday.
Please join her children for a Celebration of Life at O’Sullivan Funeral Home (215 St James St.) on Monday, April 29, 2024, from 2:00-4:00.
If so desired, donations to ARCH Hospice, The Canadian Cancer Society, The Alzheimer Society or charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family. Payable by cheque.
