Passed away peacefully at home on Friday July 5, 2024 at the age of 84 just a few days shy of her 85th birthday.
Anja was born in Kuusankoski, Finland to Heiki and Signe Huttunen. Predeceased by her husband Toivo Karhuniemi. Cherished mother of Allan Karhuniemi (Ottawa) and his previous partner Robert Ashton (Ottawa). Loving sister of Ari Huttunen (Finland) and late Tapio Huttunen (Finland).
Anja and her husband spent many years living in Island Lake, ON where she worked at the local cookery. And then further in Chapleau and finally moving to Sault Ste. Marie over 10 years ago, where she lived at the Suomi Eesti Maja residence. Anja’s hobby was gardening and caring for her beautiful flowers.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton and Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. E, 705-759-2522). As per Anja's wishes, cremation has taken place.
