1944-2024
A life well lived
Jeff’s family is saddened to announce his peaceful passing at ARCH on June 19, 2024.
He is survived by his wife Mickie, of 57 years, his “best kids ever”, Jen Galarowic, of Drummond Island, Michigan, and Jay Law, of Sault Ste Marie; his absolutely adored grandchildren: Milla, Savanna, and Mack, of whom he was so proud. His brothers Ron (Jan), and Gord, as well as his sister-in-law, Diana Southern, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He leaves behind his forever loyal coffee club, and devoted lifelong friends.
He is predeceased by his parents, his brother Bob (Glenda), sister Barb, and sister-in-law Bobbi.
Jeff did pretty much everything he ever wanted to do. From helicopter skiing in British Columbia, snowmobiling halfway across Canada, touring the States on his BMW motorcycle, piloting his own float plane, golfing in 8 countries, and travelling on 5 continents.
He moved to the Soo 37 years ago to open the Sault Ste. Marie Duty Free store, and before his retirement in 2019, was president, as well as past president of the Frontier Duty Free Association. He loved the Soo and was proud to call it home.
Heartfelt thanks to his many caregivers over the years, especially Drs. Hill, Aziz, Macie, Woolridge, and Booth, as well as the amazing team at ARCH and SAH emergency, ICU, and 3C. For those of you that we have forgotten to mention, you know who you are. God Bless.
As per Jeff’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no funeral. In his memory, please lend a helping hand to those who cannot help themselves. In lieu of flowers, donations to SOYA, Breaking Away, or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Condolences may be made at www.osullivanfuneralhome.com. Arrangements entrusted to O’Sullivan Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, 215 St. James Street, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, P6A 1P7, 705-759-8456.
