It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the peaceful passing of Ian, surrounded by the love of his family, at Sault Area Hospital, on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the age of 64.

Beloved husband of Nancy for 42 years. Loving father to Jennifer (Lindsay) and Craig (Em). Proud grandfather of Logan, Raelyn, Seth, Kason, Kadia, Kailena, Rowen and Scarlett.

Predeceased by his parents, Steve and Ethel Madsen, and his father and mother-in-law, Ken and Edna Ralph.

Ian will be deeply missed by his siblings, Lois Hooymans (late John), Warren (late Debra), Mike, and Ken (Liz).

Brother-in-law to late Ron, late Fred, Wayne (Carolyn), late Ruth Fleming (Mike) and Brenda Buchan (Tim).

Ian will be remembered by his many nieces, nephews, and friends; now reunited with his lifelong "buddy", Keith Jones, who he often spoke of sincerely missing.

Ian demonstrated strong work ethic and dedicated 30 years of his life working as a mechanic at Canadian Tire. He was a jack of all trades and could fix and/or build just about anything!

Ian was raised on the family farm on Third Line East, where he later settled and raised his own family. Ian was happiest and found comfort amongst his family and friends, at home, especially over the most recent years. He loved being outside, watching movies, cruising the neighborhood on his golf cart, and tinkering in his garage, where he spent countless hours, fixing his "junk".

Ian was devoted to providing and caring for his family and friends, which was the motive behind his long, courageous, fight with several significant health challenges over the past 10 years. His stubbornness, strength, and bravery were evident until the very end. He put up a good fight.

Ian will be missed immensely by his family and friends.  He will be forever in our hearts but never forgotten - he has left behind so many unforgettable memories.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Murdoch, home care services, the SAH wound care clinic, and the staff on ICU at SAH, for providing kindness, compassion, and exceptional care through Ian’s health journey over the past several years.

Cremation will take place as per Ian's wishes. At the request of Ian, no funeral service will take place, but a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (payable online https://www.heartandstroke.ca/ or by cheque) or charity of your choice.
