1943 - 2024
Peacefully, at the F.J. Davey Home in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at the age of 80.
Predeceased by his wife Janice Rushton, parents Seymour and Beulah Rushton and his siblings Linda, Marie and Bobby. Loving father of Marnie Ragot (Mark) of Barrie, Ontario, and Sheri Iaconis (Grant) of St. Thomas, Ontario. Cherished Grandfather of Eryka Ragot. Garth is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Garth had a lifelong career with CP Rail and Huron Central Railway. He was a Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds season ticket holder for many years and an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan. He had hoped they would win the Stanley Cup before his time passed. Garth enjoyed playing his guitar while entertaining family and friends around campfires at Brimley State Park back in the day.
His kind and gentle human nature will be missed by many and his humorous personality will never be forgotten.
A special thank you to the staff at F.J. Davey Home on Birch 3 for making his stay there enjoyable and comfortable. He always talked highly of how good he was treated.
At the request of the family, a private graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made (payable by cheque on online) to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Canada.
