September 13, 1932 - June 6, 2024

On the afternoon of June 6, 2024, Sophie and Willy were finally reunited to sit, relax, talk and share a glass of dry red wine together as they used to do on their swing either at their home or at their camp. For the past three years, mom has endured living with Alzheimer's until her her body tired at the age of 91.

Beloved wife of the late William Sachro (Willy) (2016). Loving mother of Glenn Sachro and family, Susie Partridge (Neil), late infant Greg Sachro, Steven Sachro and Diane Ritchie (Brian). Cherished Grandma of Sheena Partridge (Kyle), Shawna Partridge (Marc), Mitchel Johnson and Travis Ritchie. Daughter of the late Nicholas and Yadowkia Sorokopud. Survived by sister Jennie Somes (late Wayne) and sister-in-law Jeanette Sorokopud (late Stan) and predeceased by her siblings Melo Sorokopud (late Mary),  Adolf Sorokopud, Nina Zanatta (late George), Rita Markoff (late Herb) and Billy Sorokopud. Daughter-in-law of the late Fred and Henrietta Sachro. Sister-in-law of Gilbert Sachro (Nancy) and predeceased by in-laws Freddy Sachro, Lillian Montgomery (late Alfred), Evelyn Lavoie (late Phil), Dorothy Sachro, Harold Sachro (late Edith), John Sachro, Louis Sachro and Helen Sachro. Aunt to many nieces and nephews and their families. Mom is now reunited with all of her beloved pets.

Sophie was such a character, we never knew what she was going to come out of her mouth next. The stories she told or should we say "embellished upon". Hopefully heaven carries SOS pads because she always had one in her hand to clean her "antiques" and "collectibles". And goodness gracious, let us not forget her obsession with going to or having garage sales! Dad is now happy and content that he is with "his girl". Moms long and good journey (which had a few hiccups along the way) has come to an end but a new and greater journey has begun.

A huge hug and thanks to the Maple View Tunnel Lake and Ranger Lake Angels who took exceptional care of our crazy mother. Special thanks to Dr. Michael Keating, Dr. Cassandra Taylor and Louisa the superwoman at the front desk at Maple View who was always a tremendous help.

A private visitation has taken place at the Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington Street E. 705-759-2522). Interment Greenwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions (payable online or by cheque) to the Sault Ste. Marie Humane Society would be appreciated by the family. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Sachro family.

"Love ya Ma"
We will miss you lots!
