These questions being asked about legal pot aren't simple yes or no answers. These polls cannot possibly represent the complexity of the issue. In fact, to try to separate something so complex into two parties simply pushes the divisive ideals that are tearing the western world apart. Questions of a political nature, and those that matter to all of us as individuals should be treated with the proper respect. They should not be represented as simple tribalism. That just leads to fear-mongering, not the required education on the subject.
In the short term? Yes. In the long term? No. There will be issues caused by people suddenly having legal access to something that they've had to hide in past. People will go nuts for about a month at most, then things will calm down. By 2020, legal pot will be seen as something rather inconsequential, assuming that there isn't an unknown variable to pot that we have yet to discover.
thank-you Adam W for posting your comment. People too often blurt out their simple opinions on complex issues without an ounce of thought. Yes the polls are for entertainment, but the issues are complex.
Only if they smoke it on the job.... That is why it will still be against most companies existing policies....
Because we know that employees would never ever go against any existing policies.....including the law that outlawed marijuana until this coming Wednesday.
Why is it all of sudden that pot is legalized that people think we're going to have a whole lot of societal issues? Smoking pot is not a new phenomena, its been going on for many years. Life is going to go on just like it does everyday. Employees are aware they don't smoke pot before or at work, just like alcohol.
Because people will that would not before?
Bungee, people that have never smoked weed before are going to wake up on the 17th and smoke some before they go to work just because its not illegal anymore? i think you'll be the only one stupid enough to jump on that bandwagon
Oh Miller....there will be more then one.
P.S. Enough with this marijuana topic. What will be will be.....and I'm not hopeful.
There won't be any new issues, it will be going alongside drinking on the job. No issue unless you do something your employer said you can't when hired.
Until there is a work place injury and the employee smoked two days prior to shift and to avoid WSIB premiums company demands test. Test positive because fat soluble and takes a long time to leave system. Employee fired!
Even though not impaired. This is what will happen to some. Heard it here first!
Everything will be ok people nothing is going to change thursday will still come and people are not going to be rioting in the streets or smoking weed and running people down with their cars
There is going to be trouble with employers who want drug testing done. A few court cases will take care of that but it's going to be messy the first few years.
What is the big panic about legalizing it wow talk about over reacting
Alcohol causes more problems and trouble than pot, by far.
Those of you that think that the legalization is going to result in “hooliganism” are foolish.
