As an RN, if your responsible for 50 patients, let’s chat with the ONA then! You have maximums, unless your in a long term care home as a charge nurse. Hospitals and the ONA have maximum patient load restrictions.

Often times an offload medic will have 2-3 offload patients in care many with multiple things going on, waiting for a bed.

We are NOT comparing Medics to Nurses, fire fighters or Police, we are comparing the safety, the unsecured/ unsafe work environment, the unpredictable work with minimal to no assistance (we can’t yell for help and have an entire team come running) ! Thats why first responders are paid what they are paid, and why medics are asking to be compensated fairly. We work on the same highways, go into the same unpredictable homes, exposed to the same drugs and hazards yet with our bare hands, often its too late before we can remove ourselves. Nurses and paramedics equally have an important role and should be both paid for what we do! The END

Buddy (I won’t use your first name, to not highlight you) but it is funny as 1/2 of is know exactly who you are, we are all sitting back head spun with your false and misleading remarks!

Let’s fact check a few things here, so sit down and really think here for a moment.

As an RN do you EVER have to walk into delapitated buildings? Have you ever had to walk through an abandon building looking for an unconsious squater? Nope, NEVER

Have you ever jumped into water to pull a body out? Then proceed to work in a soaked uniform for 40 minutes on the way to SAH without a single person to support you.

Nurses cannot work outside the hospital which is why they call the Paramedics to the front of the hospital when someone arrives unconscious- thats right nurses are not covered under WSIB once they leave the “controlled” environment. Yet Paramedics are…

Paramedics have standing protocols and so do medics, what you are not understanding is that there….

Have you EVER

There is no reduction of service! Please read the full article! If you support the paramedics, give DSSAB a call and ask why we are not under essential services (yet are forced to sign an essential service agreement, only during negotiations? The governement DOES NOT want to mandate essential service’s because it costs money, they are able to retire early, these things cost additional money! They forgot about the medics initially through pandemic pay, the people initially exposed to covid, with no way to test on the spot! The paramedics agree they should be essential, and this is why they are fighting for what is right. Call DSSAB and your MPP and demand why?

@JRenz, NP’s do not perform blood work or Urine testing in their office or in your home - they send you for LAB’s & they do not visit in homes, group homes or apartments.

CP Medics work directly with several physicians similar to an NP in which they do in fact get a script and treat the patient directly with Physician insight, medications not typically even prescribed by a NP!

These medics have portable lab equipment, brought in the home using state of the art equipment and follow up immediately, something NP’s are not trained to do!

While NP’s are VERY Valuable to our community they too work under a physician, same as the community Paramedics but medics provide a faster acute services for high risk patients eg CHF, Diabetes, and can treat them on the spot if something acute is required where NP’s cannot perform Pre Hospital Care. No 5 month wait to get in, and then follow up
With life labs and try to re connect with an NP again to get a script.

@DRMAG

Paramedics often if not 80% are on scene prior to Police in medical emergencies. Most of the time, someone calling 911 in these situations (victims of assaults/ unconscious) often do not state they were assaulted, drunk or just consumed wacky drugs etc.

Many many times it comes in as a person unconscious - weather it be alcohol, drugs, overdoses or even simply a dead person will be called in as someone laying in a parking lot!

80% of these call’s turn out much different then what they are called in for. End point, police only go on confirmed or suspected assaults or potential danger to a crew. So unless the busy officers want to attend every single unconscious patient call ems gets, your statement would be impossible & not practical. Time is everything and if someone is unconscious and not moving i don’t think the responsible thing would be having medics sit and wait for police.

Thank you 😊. As a local company we strive in giving back to the community. Thank you for noticing our hard work. Many days you can drive by the store at 2 am, and notice the trucks in the driveway. We have put in 18 hour days, away from our children to make this a “success story” and we will continue to grow and support this amazing city. When you shop with OC, we give back directly to this community. Since 2015 we have almost donated $40,000 back to ssm and will continue to support our youth event’s, non for profit organizations. #supportlocal #ocbeauty #nobscosmetics
