My condolences to Susan and Larry. I worked with your mom for many years and she was one of the kindest persons I have ever met. She made life at the office a cheerful and welcoming place. Rest in peace Eloise.

We had a bear come visit the house a week ago...so they are awake ! Mind you future visits may have a cub or two in tow, so be extra careful then.

My son is attending university in southern Ontario and has worked as a student for the City. His expenses are probably more than many full time employed persons in this City. His rent is almost double that of what is charged here and one can not just rent a place from September, through to the end of April, but pay for an entire year. So even though they have squeezed three persons into a tiny two bedroom unit, it still costs him almost $10,000 a year for rent. Tuition is almost $9000 a year, plus add to that books, a computer, transportation and of course food. He gets about a thousand dollars a year as a student loan, but of course that has to be paid back. So at the end of the day his mom and I pay the difference, which is about $12,000 to $15,000, but going up every year. Multiply that by three children.
Most students do NOT live at home. The cost of education is not cheap for students, nor their parents. Students deserve a living wage, as does EVERYONE.

The assumption that there were few potholes, since they received fewer complaints, is perhaps in error. After a ruined front bumper, two destroyed tires and suspension failure, I only made a claim for the bumper. However, that was refused, apparently because it I can only assume the adjuster had no concept of the metric system of measurement and 7cms is actually only about 3", not 7" as their determination for the depth of a pothole. Everyone I talk to with similar experience with the City's insurance adjuster, have given up reporting claims, since the City will not pay for damages caused by the continuing appalling state of the road system.

You will be missed Lonny. I remember fondly our 'discussions' concerning the superiority of 'Yes', vs 'Guns and Roses' (If you knew Lonny, you know who he championed) and of course your vast knowledge of Numismatics and your love of hockey. Oh to listen in on that banter again, with Hanna, Graeme and Andrew's beloved "Uncle Lonny".

Kim, John and family. Sorry to hear of your loss. He will be missed. I will always remember Joe's smile and his always gracious assistance to everyone, myself included, whilst helping them through the OBC process... Cycledave
