Western separation is not going to happen. Chretien made sure of that with the Clarity Act in 2000. The threat of seperation is the latest scare tactic being used by Conservatives.
Clarity Act 2000:
1.Clear referendum question....not a problem
2.Clear majority..... not just 51%... it has to be obvious to the FEDERAL government that it is the clear will of Albertans AND Saskatchewanians.
3.Vote by EVERY other province and territory to allow secession, since it involves changing the Constitution.
4. Negotiations.... the difficult one. Water rights, assumption of part of national debt, native claims, federal land claims, citizenship rights......there is absolutely no reason for the feds to make it easy.
5. They need to create a political system, banking system, monetary system, healthcare system, a judiciary, police, military.
Not going to happen with 30% wanting to do it BEFORE the process starts.

You need to read C-69. It simply offers a framework for approval of pipelines while taking into consideration environment, economic, and native issues. Lack of C-69 led to a confusing mix of laws and approvals required to start construction.
Bill c-69 obviously doesn't make pipelines impossible, since the Trans Mountain Expansion doubles export capacity. The LIBERAL government bought the pipeline and finished the expansion. Those shipments can now go to Asia, and they do.
There are 7 LNG projects developing in Canada and our first shipments to Japan or South Korea leaves Kitimat next month.

We started selling LNG to Asia this month. New pipeline was created under C-69.
It's obviously not a "no new pipelines" bill, regardless of what PP's slogans say.
