Here we go again, yet another election in which Conservative candidates refuse to attend all-candidates meetings at which the general public can hear their positions, ask questions and become better informed. Democracy requires that if you put yourself forward as a candidate, then you need to go all in and participate in public forums and debates. Poilievre instead has gagged his candidates. CBC radio has reached out to all candidates in the north and all candidates including the NDP and Liberals have responded but the Conservatives decline response time and time again. This is undemocratic and deeply concerning.

Instead of waiting to hear, go look it up yourself and see you’re wrong. https://www.elections.ca/Scripts/vis/candidates?L=e&ED=24054&EV=62&EV_TYPE=1&QID=-1&PAGEID=17

We need a government that will provide financial support to the steel industry and workers. Poilievre won't do that. HIs proposal is to "condemn" the tariffs but no financial aid to the industry and workers. The industry will need support to transition to new markets and away from dependence on US customers.

This is election is about the survival of Canada. There is no one better than Carney to stand up to Trump. Poilievre is Trump-Lite and in many ways, much like Trump; he's divisive and he has no plan to stand up to Trump. Poilievre opposes financial support for the steel industry and steel workers. Poilievre's only plan is to condemn the steel tariffs and axe the tax. Carney is committed to providing actual support to the steel industry and workers as the Liberals did in the first Trump administration, something Poilievre opposed. The Poilievre and his candidates will do nothing to help this community and this country.

This is a profoundly ignorant comment. The Liberals passed legislation (Bill C-75) that took some of the authority from the Court and gave it to the police to impose conditions on release which the police could not previously impose, only the Courts. It did not make it easier to release accused persons, it streamlined the process to make it more efficient. The same release considerations have to be made but first by the police instead of sending an accused to Court for the same conditions. The police have to exercise the same judgment as the Court; is the accused likely attend court and will the accused's release be a risk to the public. If they were not satisfied, then the accused went to bail court. The legislation also codified in statute law which the Courts had already found in judicial judgments, and updated law that had not been revised since 1972.

In point of fact, the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police recommended safe consumption sites and this recommendation was supported by Chief Stevenson.

This is not true at all in respect of the police role. In fact, Bill C-75 actually transferred some authority from the judicial system to the police, enabling the police to exercise broader powers of imposing conditions on released individuals. This was to allow the police to impose conditions that previously only the judiciary could impose. It simplified the process somewhat by eliminating the Promise to Appear document, while retaining Appearances Notices and also Undertakings. In point of fact, the police actually have more power now under C-75 than before. The legislation also modified a system which had not been amended since 1972 and in part codified into statute law that the Courts had already ruled into existence.
Your commentary is completely unfair and inaccurate.

Evidently, nothing was learned by the city from the Elliot Lake Mall Collapse inquiry about its duty to enforce property standards bylaws, or the consequences of failure to do so.

I will only vote for a candidate that shows up for the job interview. Not showing up for the interview seems to suggest a sense of entitlement. It is a privilege and responsibility to represent constituents not an entitlement.
