Over 20 years experience, at the local, regional, and provincial levels, in addictions systems and structures--planning, implementation, & evaluation.
And how would you suggest that people, communities, districts, provinces, in Canada indicate to the current U.S. government their displeasure, disappointment, and anger?
As to not "punishing ourselves with [retaliatory] tariffs, are you suggesting that we just roll over, and comply, and wait for this appalling presidency and gang to grow up and think?

Unless, of course, you're employed.
Or in school of some nature.
Or have appointments you need to be present for.

Check with your favourite medical journal. Vehicle accidents go up. Pedestrian accidents go up. Work-related accidents go up.
And others. Something about teens, but I can't remember, because DST is lurking.......

Go buy more flags, Vic.
WE are Canadian.
Lots of other territories have maple syrup.
Flags.
You can't "fly" a bottle of maple syrup from your deck.

Successive Canadian governments of all stripes have done nothing to protect these consumer programs.
Or staff pensions, in many cases. Or jobs, for that matter.
Apparently staff protection, and consumer protection, are not a concern.
I do wonder how the Big Dogs at the top of the ladder make out under these situations, however....

But we're not talking about doing anything with the intent of dissing American people (even the yahoos who may have voted for the Orange Clown).
What we're doing, IMO, is just establishing, clearly, that we are a sovereign nation, with our own flag, which we laboured to establish, to identify clearly our own identity--maple leaf forever.
Otherwise, if we were going to continue to always & everywhere fly the Stars & Bars beside our own, why not add the Union Jack? the flag of France? any flag that was established by any of the indigenous clans & tribes that were the original occupants?
It just seems inconsistent & illogical to me, especially in the current circumstances...

I don't really know why it was flying in the first place.
Yes, our relations with the USA have, up until Trump time, been generally friendly. All to the good.
But we are friendly with LOTS of countries--and we don't routinely fly their flags.
So I don't understand the rationale....
I don't think we should make a big deal of taking down American flags, IMO it's not. And for joint military exercises or such, fine, fly both of them--for whatever period of time is relevant.
I think we should ALWAYS fly the Canadian flag, everywhere. And other flags for state visits, or particular community recognition (e.g. Pride Week), as is relevant and timely

I agree with your concept, but I really don't see how that can be done.
I think we, like a lot of other countries the USA has been involved with, one way or another, are in for varying lengths of time of varying degrees of pain.
As I have no intention of ever living in a 51st state, I think we need to be amplifying our armed forces capacities greatly and quickly.

"In less than four years, he's done."
He's trying to angle a third term allowance. I think the only exception to that, ever, in the USA was for Roosevelt...
For this thug, term termination can't come soon enough. The damage he's doing to his own country, others nearby, and the stability of world order.............
