35-year-old charged with assaulting a rideshare driver

An investigation revealed the accused had become aggressive with the driver of a rideshare service and struck them in the shoulder

On Dec. 12, Sault Ste. Marie Police officers charged a 35-year-old woman with assault after someone became aggressive with the driver of a rideshare service. 

At around 10:50 p.m., a 911 caller reported the assault in the 300 block of Great Northern Road. 

“An investigation revealed the accused had become aggressive with the driver of a rideshare service and struck them in the shoulder before exiting the vehicle at their destination,” a news release said.

Officers located the accused and arrested her. 

Samantha McEwan is charged with assault. She was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 10, 2025.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and McEwan is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
