Driver found sleeping behind the wheel of running vehicle: Police

36-year-old from Wasaga Beach faces impaired driving charges

A driver from Wasaga beach faces impaired driving charges after they were discovered asleep behind the wheel of a running vehicle early Sunday morning, say Sault Police.

"Around 1:30 a.m., 911 Communicators received a report of a driver asleep at the wheel of a running vehicle in the area of Queen Street East and Dacey Road," says a news release issued by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. "Officers were dispatched to the area and located the vehicle in the middle of the roadway with the driver asleep inside."

Police say the driver provided multiple breath samples, all of which registered above the legal limit.

As a result, 36-year-old Mackenzie Hill was arrested and is scheduled to appear in court on July 29 to answer to charges of:

  • Operation While Impaired – Drug and/or Alcohol
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80+)
