Drug Bust on Clearview Drive

On the 29th of June just before 8pm, officers from the Joint Forces Drug Unit, which is comprised of members of the OPP Drug enforcement Section, the Sault Ste Marie Police Service and their Canine Unit, the RCMP and the OPP North Region, executed a search warrant at 21 Clearview Drive. During the course of the search, officers located various drugs including marihuana, hashish, morphine, oxicotin and codeine. Also located were various packaging materials, debt lists scales and over $9000 in Canadian currency.

On the 5th of July at 1:30, 32 year old Mark John Mortimore of 21 Clearview Drive attended at the Sault Ste Marie Police Service and turned himself in. He has been charged with 5 counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance. He is scheduled to appear in court on the 13th of August.

Domestic Assault

A 37 year old male has been charged in a domestic related incident. It is believed that just before 1am this morning the accused assaulted his common-law wife by grabbing, pushing and punching her. The accused also threatened to kill the victim. City Police attended at the centrally located residence and arrested the accused. He has been charged with 1 count of assault and 1 count of threatening death. The accused is to appear in bail court today. The victim in this incident did not require immediate medical attention.

Two Charged in Assault

Just after 2pm yesterday afternoon city police attended at a residence on Charles Street and arrested two individuals from an incident which occurred the day before. It is believed that on the 5th of July 18 year old Daniel John Paul Lepage of 211 Gloucester Street and a 16 year old youth assaulted a male known to them by punching and kicking the victim when they ran into him on John Street. The accused suffered injuries but did not require medical attention. Daniel Lepage has been charged with 1 count of assault causing bodily harm and 1 count of breach of probation order. The second male has been charged with 1 count of assault causing bodily harm and 1 count of breach of probation. They are both going to appear in bail court this morning.

There were no break and enters reported overnight.

Another Paintball Incident

Officers investigated another paintball incident. Police received a call to the west end of Forth Line in regards to 3-4 males shooting off paintballs at vehicles just before 8pm.
