Male to appear in bail court: Last night at approx. 11:30 pm city police were called to the 700 block of Second Line W. regarding a disturbance.
Male to appear in bail court:

Last night at approx. 11:30 pm city police were called to the 700 block of Second Line W. regarding a disturbance. Upon arrival officers spoke two males who advised that they had been threatened by a male brandishing two knives. As a result James Wesley, age 25, of 702 Second Line W. Unit # 2 was charged with two counts of assault with a weapon. It is alleged that last night at approx. 11:30 pm the accused was involved in an argument with some people in the area of 702 Second Line W. At this time the two male complainants went to investigate the noise. As they approached the area the accused is alleged to have gone into his residence and retrieved two large kitchen knives and commences waving the knives at the victims. Police were called and the accused was arrested. James Wesley will be appearing in bail court this morning at 9:00 am.

Male arrested for impaired driving:

Last night at approx. 9:00 pm city police were given information regarding a possible impaired driver in the downtown area. At approx. 9:05 pm police officers located the suspected vehicle and subsequently arrested a 55-year-old male. It is alleged that the accused, Thomas Lynn, was operating his vehicle, on Queen St. E. while under the influence of alcohol. Thomas Lynn, age 55, of 1125 Goulais Ave is charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of drive over 80mgs. He will be appearing in court on July 27th at 9:00 am.

Male arrested for theft under $ 5,000:

Yesterday afternoon at approx. 4:30 pm city police were called to Rome’s Independent Grocer, 44 Great Northern Rd. regarding a shoplifter. Upon arrival officers spoke to store security and then arrested a 43-year-old male. It is alleged that the accused, Douglas Boston, entered the store, selected two packages of juice crystals and then left the store without making any attempt to pay for the items. Charged with one count of theft under
$ 5,000.00 is Douglas Boston, age 43, of 41 Old Garden River Rd. Apt 205. He will be appearing in court on July 27th at 9:00 am.

Property crimes:

Break and enter


Northern Heights School, located at 210 Grand Blvd, was broken into at approx. 12:30 am this morning. Police were notified once the alarm was set off. A computer was stolen.

Theft

A vehicle parked in the 100 block of Letcher St. was entered and a wallet was stolen.

Mischief

The Algoma Child Rehabilitation Centre, located at 74 Johnson Ave, had two signs damaged yesterday.

Suspicious vehicle

City police received a call yesterday afternoon regarding a suspicious vehicle driving around in the Nokomis Beach Rd. area. It is alleged that the vehicle, a black Ford pick-up truck was seen driving into several driveways in the area.
