WEAPONS ASSAULT On Saturday, at approximately 12:00 p.m. city police arrested a young person in a residence in the east end of the city for assault with a weapon.

On Saturday, at approximately 12:00 p.m. city police arrested a young person in a residence in the east end of the city for assault with a weapon.

It appears the young person pulled a meat cleaver out of a drawer and waved it at the victim The young person then put the cleaver away and threw a tin of canned food and threw it, striking the victim in the stomach area.

City police arrested and charged the young person with two counts of assault with a weapon. The accused will appear in court in December 2003.

ASSAULT CHARGE
Last Thursday, at approximately 5:00p.m. Denis Pepin aged 37 of 35 Avery Rd. went to an address in the west end of the city and threatened to kill and beat up another male person known to him. The two parties exchanged words and Pepin assaulted the victim by grabbing the victim in the throat.

After the altercation the victim contacted City Police and Pepin left the area. On Saturday, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Denis Pepin attended the Sault Ste. Marie Police station where he was charged and arrested with one count of criminal harassment and one count of assault. He will appear in court 15 Dec. 2003.

BREAK AND ENTER, MISCHIEF
On the 14th of June at approximately 4:31 a.m., city police were called to a Wellington Street West residence regarding a mischief. Upon arrival, city police spoke to the complainant who advised that a small party was starting to get out of hand.

When people were asked to leave, two males entered the house to borrow a phone. Jim Petingalo age 23 of 623 Wellington St. West, became quite irate with one of the partygoers that was still in the house, and began to thrown beer bottles, causing damage to the house, as well as flipping over a coffee table and making a mess inside the house.

Jim Petingalo and his friend then left the residence walking down the street screaming that he was going to be returning with some of his friends.

Yesterday, at approximately 1:45 a.m. Petingalo entered the fenced compound of Construction Equipment at 1245 Great Northern Road and stole two shock absorbers from a Bombardier Ski Doo MXZ snow machine and removed a windshield, ski, instrument cluster and two shock absorbers. The shock absorbers were the only items Petingalo took from the compound after the alarm was triggered.

He was arrested and charged with break and enter and also the outstanding charge of mischief. He will appear in court the 15th of Dec. 2003.

DRUG CHARGES
On Friday afternoon at approximately 3:40 p.m., city police executed a Controlled Drug and Substance Act search warrant at a downtown address.

Thomas Pine age 34 of 56 London St. had in his possession 1.1 grams of cannabis marijuana. He was arrested and charged at possession of a substance and will appear in court the 15th of Dec. 2003.

TRAFFICKING CHARGES
On Friday , drug officers executed a Controlled Drug and Substance Act search warrant at a west end residence. Police entered finding persons in the process of "free basing " morphine; preparing spoons a clear liquid and syringes, getting ready for injection.

Police officers subsequently located 138 morphine pills, 15 codeine pills and benzodiazepine pills. Officers located several debt lists, an undisclosed amount of cash and numerous syringes. Also located was a cannabis resin spliff. Estimated street value of all drugs seized is approximately $3800.

Dale Lambert age 45 of 225 Huron St. #1, Paula Desrocher age 40 of 225 Huron St. #1, Timothy Jones age 48 of R.R. #1 Goulais River and Marty Mattila age 390 of 1003 Allen Side Rd. have all been arrested and charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of narcotics. All accused will appear in court the 15th of Dec. 2003
