Sault Police say a man was carrying a lot of drugs at Albert and Gore Street last night — more than $56,000 worth.
At around 8:30 p.m., police say detectives with the city’s drug enforcement unit spotted a man in the area wanted on an outstanding warrant.
Although the man bolted from the cops, he was eventually caught and arrested.
“A search of the accused located approximately 283 grams of suspected fentanyl, approximately 120 grams of suspected cocaine, approximately 18 grams of suspected methamphetamine, a digital scale, $510 in Canadian currency, and a cellphone,” says a news release issued this morning by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. “The total estimated street value of drugs seized is $56,414.50.”
Edward Hodgson, 35, is charged with:
- Possession of Schedule I Substance for Purpose of Trafficking x3
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and Hodgson is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
