A Sault Ste. Marie man will be sentenced in December after admitting he filmed his young stepdaughter in the bathroom of their home.
He pleaded guilty to making child pornography and possession of child pornography when he appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice last week.
He also was convicted of voyeurism for surreptitiously observing or making recordings in circumstances where there is an expectation of privacy.
The offences occurred between Jan. 1 and June 2, 2022.
A publication ban prohibits reporting information that identifies the victim.
Justice John Condon heard the accused set up an electronic device, capable of making videos, in the bathroom.
He recorded the girl getting in and out of the shower, and the images showed her naked body, assistant Crown attorney Matthew Caputo said.
The girl was 12 to 13 years of age at the time.
His partner discovered the device on June 2, and took it to the police station.
Officers found three distinct GIF images that met the definition of child pornography, the prosecutor said.
They also located video of the accused setting up the device in the bathroom.
Sentencing was put over until Dec. 12 so that a pre-sentence report can be prepared.
"There is not a joint position [on sentencing] at this time," Caputo told the judge.
"I don't expect there will be a joint position," defence counsel Eric McCooeye said.
