The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is advising that missing person Marilyn Taylor was located today in the cities east end. We would like to thank the public for their assistance in locating Marilyn Taylor.

Bail Court:

Yesterday evening at approx. 10:15 pm city police arrested a 15-year-old male and charged him with two counts of theft under $ 5,000.00 and one count of mischief. It is alleged that on April 12th, 2009 the accused broke into two vehicles and damaged the window of a third vehicle. Items stolen from the vehicle were CDs, a GPS system and personal identification.

Male arrested for Impaired Driving:

Last night at approx. 8:10 pm city police received a cell phone call from a citizen, who was following a possible impaired driver on Second Line W. Police attended in the area and observed the suspect vehicle driving in an erratic manner. Officers stopped the vehicle and subsequently arrested the driver. Charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of drive over 80 mgs is Timothy Laplante, age 42 of 1160 Allen’s Side Rd. He will be appearing in court on June 8th at 9:00 am.

Female arrested for Theft under $ 5,000.

Yesterday afternoon city police were called to attend at Wal-Mart regarding a female shoplifter. Upon arrival officers spoke to store security and subsequently arrested Jessica Boucher, age 19, of 30 Grace St. It is alleged that the accused, Boucher, entered the store and stole a cord for a computer and some lip gloss. The value of the items stolen was approx. $ 38.00. The accused will be appearing in court on May 25th at 9:00 am.

Male arrested for Theft, Possession of Controlled Substance and Breach of probation:

Yesterday afternoon at approx. 5:35 pm city police were called to Joe’s Sport and Surplus, on Queen St. E. regarding a theft. Upon arrival officers were advised by a clerk that a male had just stolen a packsack from the store. The clerk further informed the officers that he had taken a picture of the suspect while he was fleeing .At approx. 8:00 pm city police located and arrested Edward Martel, age 46 of 345 St. George’s Ave. E apt # 132. Mr. Martel was charged with one count of theft under $ 5,000 and one count of breach of probation.

At approx. 2:00 am this morning city police were called to 345 St. George’s Ave E. Apt # 132 regarding a landlord and tenant problem. When the investigating officers attended at Mr. Martel’s apartment they located a small quantity of a drug believed to be cocaine. As a result Edward Martel was arrested and charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of breach of probation. Mr. Martel will be appearing in court on June 1st at 9:00 am.

Property Crimes:

Break and Enter:


A residence in the 100 block of Melville Rd was entered last night. A purse containing a small amount of change was taken.

Mischief:

Late last night a window was broken at a residence in the 100 block of McNabb St.
A vehicle parked at the rear of Excel Auto was damaged yesterday.

Theft:

Vehicles were entered on the following streets:
100 block of Marwayne Ave – personal items were stolen.
400 block of Sydenham Rd. –cash and a cell phone were stolen.
100 block of Village Crt – taken.
200 block of Great Northern Rd.- electronic equipment was taken.
