Four persons to appear in bail court: 1) Yesterday evening at approx. 8:30 pm city police attended at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre and arrested Ronald Mitchell, age 24. It is alleged that Mr.

1) Yesterday evening at approx. 8:30 pm city police attended at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre and arrested Ronald Mitchell, age 24. It is alleged that Mr. Mitchell broke into the Root River Golf and Country Club on June 21st. It is further alleged that the accused was in possession of property reported stolen from that break and enter as well as property reported stolen from a break and enter on June 8th at the Northshore Industrial Wheel Manufacturing Company. Ronald Mitchell is charged with one count of break and enter and three counts of possession of property obtained by crime.

2) At approx 12:55 am this morning city police arrested a 14-year-old male on warrants for failing to appear for identification. The youth is charged with two counts of failing to appear for identification.

3) At approx. 4:20 am this morning city police were called to the Canadian Tire Gas Bar regarding a theft. Upon arrival officers spoke to the gar bar clerk and subsequently arrested Jamie Wilson, age 28 of 167 Poplar Ave. It is alleged that the accused entered the gas bar store and stole two ice cream bars. It is further alleged that upon arresting the accused the officers located stolen credit cards on the accused. Jamie Wilson is charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime, two counts of theft under $ 5,000 and one count of breach of probation.

4) At approx. 10:00 pm last night city police were called tom a downtown residence regarding a domestic dispute. It is alleged that when police arrived the officers observed a 23-year-old male assault a female. As the officers attempted to arrest the accused he resisted police. The accused is charged with one count of assault and one count of resist arrest.

Male arrested for failing to remain and personation:

Yesterday afternoon city police arrested Daniel Nadeau, age 40, of 136 Turner Ave Apt. # 2 and charged him with one count of failing to remain at the scene of an accident and one count of personation. It is alleged that on July18th the accused was involved in a motor vehicle collision. At the time of the incident the accused falsely identified himself to the other driver. Mr. Nadeau will be appearing in court on Aug 24th at 9:00 am.

Property Crimes:

Break and Enters:


The Sault Ste Marie Police Service investigated four break and enter reports yesterday.
The Beaver Gas bar located at 286 Korah Rd. was broken into yesterday. Cash was reported stolen.
A residence in the 100 block of Manitou Dr. was entered – it is unknown what was taken.
A residence in the 200 block of McNabb St. was entered – unknown what was taken.
An attempted break to a garage was reported at a residence in the 100 block of McQueen Rd.

Thefts:

Two bicycles were reported stolen from a residence in the 100 block of Glenholme Ave.

Mischief:

A mailbox was damaged at a residence in the 100 block of Old Garden River Rd.
A door at a residence in the 200 block of Anna St. was damaged.
A window on a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Louise Ave was damaged.
A window was broken at a home in the 200 block of Spruce St.
Last night at approx. 10:30 pm city police were called to the Fourth Line W. and Goulais Ave area regarding kids throwing things at passing cars.

Notice to the public:

The public is advised that from July 20th to July 26th canvassers will be going door to door attempting to obtain donations, to sponsor a child, for the Plan Canada Sponsor Program.

Legitimate canvassers will be wearing photo ID that clearly identifies them as canvassing on behalf of Plan Canada. If anyone has concerns about the canvassers they should contact the city police.
