Male Arrested for Assault with a Bat:

36 year-old Roy Hamilton of 549 Douglas Street was arrested on the 24th of June at 1:12 am on Fourth Avenue and charged with one count of assault with a weapon and two counts of breach of probation. City police received a call last evening just after midnight to a residence property in the 300 block of Fourth Avenue regarding a male assaulting another male with a baseball bat. It is alleged that when police arrived they learned that the accused was asked to leave a party that was going on in a yard due to his level of intoxication and causing problems. The accused left, but returned a short while later with a bat, got into a confrontation with a 32 year-old male known to him, and struck him in the hand with a baseball bat. The victim received non-life threatening injuries as a result. Police located the accused, in an intoxicated state in the area and arrested him. At the time of the incident the accused was on probation with conditions that he not consume any alcohol and to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Domestic Related Arrest:

A 24 year-old male was arrested on the 23rd of June at 1:34 am at an east end residence and charged with nine counts of possession of a firearm, weapon or ammunition while prohibited, one count of careless use of a firearm, weapon or ammunition, one count of unauthorized possession of a weapon, one count of possession of a weapon obtained by crime, one count of possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm or ammunition and three counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 23rd of June around 1:34 am city police received information that the accused was at the residence of his girlfriend when he was on release conditions not to due to a previous domestic related assault incident. Police attended and located him hiding under a bed and arrested him. It is further alleged that when officers attended at his residence earlier, they located a firearm, magazine for a firearm and ammunition in his bedroom. The accused is on five separate weapon prohibitions, prohibiting him from possessing a firearm and ammunition. The gun was unregistered and had no trigger locks on it. The accused appeared in bail court yesterday.

Female Charged with Theft and Attempt Fraud:

37 year-old Tina Doxtador of #3-152 Second Line West was charged twice yesterday with theft and fraud related charges. It is alleged that on the 23rd of June at approximately 1:09 pm the accused attended at the Station Mall I.D.A., took a bottle of vitamins off the shelf and then attempted to return them for a refund. She was apprehended by store staff and held for police who attended and charged her with one count of attempt fraud. Later in the day, around 5:55 pm, the accused attended at Joe’s No Frills on Korah Road and stole some Energizer batteries. At that time, police charged her with one count of theft under $5,000.00. She is to appear in court on both charged on the 27th of July.

Property Crimes

Break and Enters:


• Two sheds were reported broken into yesterday, one in the 600 block of Connaught Avenue and one in the 200 block of Old Goulais Bay Road. Gas and a generator were reported stolen.

Thefts:

• Three bicycles were reported stolen from properties on Glenholme Avenue, Frontenac Street and McDougald.
• Vehicles were entered on Fairmount Drive and Prentice Avenue. A camera, a GPS and a purse were reported stolen.

Mischief Reports:

• Vehicles and residence windows were egged on Ellis Road, Peach Drive and Breton Road.
• A firecracker was set off in a mailbox on Second Avenue, damaging it as a result.
