SEXUAL ASSAULT On Saturday, the 20th of September 2003 between 12:00 midnight and 3:00 a.m. the accused, a 40-year-old male from Sault Ste. Marie sexually assaulted the victim, a female in her mid teens, who was known to the accused.
SEXUAL ASSAULT
On Saturday, the 20th of September 2003 between 12:00 midnight and 3:00 a.m. the accused, a 40-year-old male from Sault Ste. Marie sexually assaulted the victim, a female in her mid teens, who was known to the accused. The assault occurred in a residence in the city.

On Tuesday, September 30th at 2:20 pm Detectives from the Investigation Services Section arrested and charged the male with Sexual Assault. He will appear in court on November 3rd.

ASSAULT
On Tuesday, the 30th of September an adult female decided to leave her west end residence, when her 43 year old husband stood in the door way and told her that she couldn't leave. To prevent her from leaving, he grabbed her by the shoulders. The victim was able to free herself, collect some of her belongings and left the home.

As she tried to leave the driveway in her car, the accused blocked her in with his vehicle. Again the victim was able to get herself free of the situation and leave the area in her car. The victim proceeded to a friend’s home where the accused showed up and assaulted her by grabbing her right wrist and pulling her arm. The victim then locked herself in a room for her safety and police were contacted. The victim received minor injures in the incident.

At 3:15 pm the accused was arrested at his residence and charged with Assault and Forcible Confinement. He will appear in bail court today.

PRISON VAN DAMAGE
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigated damage to its prisoner escort vehicle yesterday. At shortly after 2:00 pm three prisoners were being transported, by staff from the Police Service, from the courthouse on Queen Street to the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre on Great Northern Road. The prisoners decided to kick the rear doors of the prisoner van, causing several dents to it.

The prisoners, Gordon James Jenkins, age 27 of 415 Beach Front Rd. Cobourg, Ontario, Clayton Young, age 19 of 530 12th Ave. South East, Calgary, Alberta and Brian Blevins, age 19 of 51 Algoma Ave. Sault Ste. Marie were all arrested and charged with mischief with regards to this incident. All three will appear in bail court today.

GROCERY THEFT
On the 30th of September 2003 the accused Patricia St. Louis, age 22 of #4-123 Willoughby attended at 197 Trunk Road, Pino's IGA and removed over $100.00 worth of meat products from the store without paying for them.

Store staff detained the accused and police were called. At 5:07 pm patrol officers arrested and charged the female with Theft. She will appear in court on November 3rd.

BREACH OF RECOGNIZANCE
On Tuesday, the 30th of September at approximately 6:40 pm the accused, a 16 year old young person was observed by patrol officers in front of the Before and After Club at 523 Queen Street, in the company of two other young persons. The accused was standing with the others on the sidewalk in front of civic 523, and when the youth saw the police cruiser approaching, the youth attempted to turn away so as not to be seen.

Patrol officers checked the young person and found that the accused was on release conditions not to associate with one of the persons present. At 6:50 pm the youth was arrested and charged with Breach of Recognizance. The accused will appear in bail court today.

BREAK INS
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigated two break and enters in the past 24 hours. At 11:29 am yesterday patrol officers were advised of a break in to a home on Moss Rd. And at 3:10 am this morning a homeowner on Kent Ave. advised police that their home had been entered in the early morning hours of September 19th. In both investigations nothing appeared taken.

POWER OUTAGE ACCIDENT
Yesterday’s power outage resulted in a four-car collision on Wellington Street East at Bruce Street. At 12:22 pm Mike Cote, age 29 of 96 Wawanosh Ave. was driving a 1989 Jeep west on Wellington Street when he went through the Bruce Street intersection and struck a 1990 Chevrolet truck being driven by Michael Bernard, age 45 of 49 Hawthorne Ave. The Bernard vehicle and other vehicles at the intersection had stopped and were treating the intersection like a 4 way stop as the traffic signals were not functioning due to the power outage.

The Bernard vehicle, which had proceeded from a stop to going north across the intersection, was forced, by the impact, into two other cars on the north side of the intersection. The other vehicles, which were stopped in the south bound lanes of Wellington Street facing south, were a 1989 GMC van being driven by Amber Lynn McCarthy, age 17 of 280 Conmee Ave. and a 2001 Ford van being driven by Lisa Hodgson, age 37 of 138 Dacey Rd. A passenger in the in the Bernard vehicle, Karen Lucas, age 54 of 49 Hawthorne Ave. received minor injuries in the collision and was taken to hospital by ambulance. Vehicle damage was described as moderate for the Jeep and the truck. Both vans received light damage. Cote has been charged with Failing to Yield at an Uncontrolled Intersection under the Highway Traffic Act.
