The conditions were cool and breezy near the St. Marys River this morning, but that didn't deter the 600 locals who showed up for the 25th edition of Run the Great Lakes.
Hailed as the biggest race of the year in Sault Ste. Marie, participants of all ages from both sides of the border either walked, jogged, or ran 5-km and 10-km routes along the boardwalk and Canal District, while the younger ones took part in 1-km and 2-km treks.
In the process, registrants raised more than $30,000 for ARCH Hospice and the Sault Area Hospital Foundation.
Participation was up by 100 people this year, which contributed significantly to that total.
