The fourth annual Come As You Are gala in support of Grocer 4 Good is set for June 7.
Being held at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre, the gala serves as both a crucial revenue source to support Grocer 4 Good and a chance to recognize staff, volunteers, community partners, and educators.
The second annual Educator to Employment Awards will be held as part of the event.
Tables of 10 are $525 and individuals $55 and includes a full course buffet dinner, dessert table and entertainment.
Nominations are open for the Education to Employment Visionary Award and will remain open until May 26.
The goal of the award is to recognize exceptional educators who have supported students who learn differently during their academic journey with a view to enhancing their opportunities for meaningful employment in the future.
Awards will be given to educators at the elementary, secondary and post secondary level. These can be an Educational Assistant, Classroom teacher, Special Education/Resource Teacher or Principal, Coach, Co-op Teacher.
Nominations can be submitted by email with the following information:
- Nominee name (include contact information)
- Nominator name (include contact information)
- School
- Position (EA, teacher, professor, co-op teacher, principal)
- Paragraph describing the strategies and impact the educator has had on the student promoting employability skills, personal esteem and confidence to access the world of work. Please include concrete examples such as classroom opportunities as well as examples of successful coop, summer employment or post secondary education and employment.
