The Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord has appointed Carl Dussault as director of education and secretary of the board.
Dussault brings 25 years of experience in education, which includes several years in strategic management and governance, while also bringing an innovative and mobilizing vision focused on pedagogy, community engagement, and the development of French-language education in Ontario.
His resume includes roles as superintendent of education at the Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario (CEPEO), principal of elementary and secondary schools, and provincial leadership with Ontario’s French-language school boards.
“We are delighted to welcome Mr. Dussault to the CS Grand Nord family,” states Board chair, Francine Vaillancourt. “As a visionary leader, Mr. Dussault will continue to implement the Board’s 2024–2029 Strategic Plan, while fostering pedagogical innovation and strengthening the position of the Conseil scolaire du Grand Nord as a key player in Ontario’s French-language education sector. His leadership style, based on listening and collaboration, will ensure a supportive and harmonious work environment for all members of the school community.”
“I look forward to working closely with the Board’s staff, implementing initiatives that support professional development for staff and student success, and actively contributing to the CS Grand Nord growth and influence,” Dussault said.
Dussault will take on his new roles at the end of July and is replacing Alain Gélinas, who will be retiring after serving as interim director of education in recent months.
Gelinas was commended by the Board for "his commitment and leadership were essential in ensuring the continuity of our services during this transitional period."
