The Centre for Social Justice and Good Works house Sweet Change, I Love to Move and ACTion SSM.

The centre for Social Justice and Good Works is launching their Sweet Change Good Deeds spring and summer program.

The program celebrates good deeds done by children ages 6-13 and is accepting entries until May 6.

For more information on the program, please see the press release included below.

The Centre for Social Justice and Good Works is continuing its very successful Sweet Change Good Deeds program this spring and summer. We have distributed hundreds of the children’s storybook, chocolate bears, Good Deeds pins and some cash prizes. The program has been well received by the public and the media. There is a well-rounded committee that is advising the centre board with new ideas, which also review submissions and chooses the most deserving.

We are accepting submissions for good deeds until May 6 (an eight week time frame) from the ‘I Love to Move’ Program, schools, businesses and the public. This will leave time to assess submissions for the awards event in late May or early June. The centre’s ‘I Love to Move’ Program is adding a Good Deeds portion to its free recreation program and is partnering with social services and the city’s ‘Best for Kids’ program to expand the program to five sites for the spring program and an eight-week summer day camp. The St. Mary’s College drama club is adapting our children’s storybook and song into a stage play, which will become part of our awards’ event. A video of the play will be recorded so that the video will be placed on YouTube and used in schools to promote our program in the future.

There will be an awards ceremony for a number of those children participating in the Sweet Change Good Deeds program. The awards ceremony will be a fun event, which will highlight the accomplishments of some of the program participants and reward the children with a Sweet Change Good Deeds Hero Certificate from the centre, the Sweet Change: the Chocolate Bear storybook, ‘Sweet Change the Chocolate Bear’ chocolate coins and a Sweet Change Chocolate Bear in special recognition of their growth and good works. There will also be some cash gifts distributed.

To enter, please provide the child’s (6-13) name, description of the good deeds, the reason for the good deeds and their effect, the child’s email address, home address and phone number should be submitted before May 6, 2022 to the Sweet Change Good Deeds program.
