The Soo Greyhounds are still searching for their first victory of the season after falling 3-1 to the Owen Sound Attack on Saturday night. The Greyhounds finished their two game road trip with a 0-2 record and dip to 0-3-1 in the Ontario Hockey League's west division. Owen Sound, which improved to 3-1-1, opened the scoring in the first period on the power play as Stefan Ruzicka beat Greyhounds goaltender Kevin Druce early in the first period. Sault native Patrick Jarrett assisted on the goal. Matt Maccarone scored his first goal of the year for the Greyhounds in the second period on a shot between the legs of goaltender Dan LaCosta to tie the game at 1-1. Andre Deveaux scored his first of two third period goals at the 13:55 mark as the rookie deflected former Greyhound defenseman Dustin Van Ballegooie's point shot past Druce. Deveaux scored into the empty in the game's final minute after stripping Jeff Doyle of the puck. Van Ballegooie and Tom Zanoski recorded two assists each for the Attack. Sean Stefanski and Jason Pitton assisted on Maccarone's marker. Druce had another stellar game in net for the Greyhounds stopping 39 of 41 shots he faced. The Greyhounds fired 29 shots on LaCosta. The Greyhounds played the game minus overage forward Scott Dobben. Dobben was assessed a gross misconduct penalty late in Friday's loss to the Kitchener Rangers and subsequently suspended after shooting a puck into the crowd after the whistle. In other games around the OHL on Saturday, the Ottawa 67's won their first game of the season by whipping the Toronto St. Michael's 10-2. Saginaw edged Erie 6-5 and Plymouth beat Belleville 5-2. The Greyhounds return home this coming weekend to host the Saginaw Spirit on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and the Kitchener Rangers on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Memorial Gardens.
