Mother Nature had its way with Laird International Raceway on Thursday night, forcing the track to schedule a double race week.

LIR will run two of the final four race dates of the season on Monday and Thursday next week. Qualifying begins at 6 p.m. and racing at 7 p.m. on both nights.

The race for the points championships will heat up in each division with several drivers in contention for a title.

Robert Hiiemaa has a fairly comfortable lead in the late model division with 448 points. Rick Ellis with 377 points and George Wilson with 367 points remain in the hunt.

Jason Praysner continues to open a lead in the stock division with 487 points ahead of David Slinsby's 459 points. Just a few weeks ago, Praysner and Slingsby were tied for the division lead. Praysner opened a big lead with a clean sweep last Saturday after the driver decided on competing at LIR over the Kinross Speedway. By missing Kinross, Praysner fell from first to third place behind leader Jerry Ball and Cecil Piche.

A tight battle exists among four drivers for the pure stock championship. Norm Miller leads with 406 points followed by Ray Golladay with 403, Bob Laphew with 381 and Joe Addison with 372.

Five drivers are chasing the stock four crown. Paul Beauchamp leads with 377 points followed by Dan Dinsmore with 364 points, Jeremy Van Hoek with 359, Matt Huber with 352 and Bill Butler with 345 points.
