OBA championships this weekend in Sault

Sault Ste. Marie will be playing host to 2 OBA championships on the Labour Day weekend. All games will be played at Sinclair Yards on Black Road. The Elk's #341 Selects will represent the Sault in the bantam division for 14 and 15-year-olds.

Sault Ste. Marie will be playing host to 2 OBA championships on the Labour Day weekend. All games will be played at Sinclair Yards on Black Road. The Elk's #341 Selects will represent the Sault in the bantam division for 14 and 15-year-olds.

The locals will start the action off with a 5:30 pm game against Brantford on Friday evening. The late game under the lights will see Waterloo play Ajax at 8:00 pm. Orillia has a first round bye and will play their first game Saturday. All bantam games will be played on `E` Field. The double elimination action will run throughout the day on Saturday with games at 10:00 am, 12:30 pm, 3:00 pm and 5:30 pm. Sunday will consist of semi-final and final round action with games at 9:30 am, 12:00 pm and 2:30 pm if necessary.

The Mosquito division is for 10 and 11 year olds. The Soo Mosquito Selects are the defending champs and have an eye on repeating last years win. The 4-team field will play a round robin tournament. The games are scheduled for 9:30 am, 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm on `C` field and `D` field. The championship game and consolation game will be at 10:00 am Sunday. The games are open to the public and free of charge. Come down to the fields and see some great baseball.

This weekend will also see the Pee Wee Selects (12 and 13-year-olds) play in their provincial championship in Thornhill Ontario. You can keep up-to-date with the action at the Selects website www.sooball.com/oba.
