The Sir James Dunn Eagles came away with a pair of home court wins on Thursday as the High School Girls Basketball League enters the stretch drive.

The Soo North Stars opened the Big Nickel Tournament in Sudbury on Thursday night with a tie. The locals skated to a 2-2 draw with Markham as Jake McClelland and Zac Torquato scored the North Stars goals.

The Soo Greyhounds were busy on Thursday as the team completed an Ontario Hockey League trade and celebrated the selection of two players to an OHL select team competing against Russia.

The Soo Thunderbirds made a late game surge to send the game into overtime but Northern Michigan rallied for the win in extra time.

It wasn't the way they wanted to open their current homestand, but the Soo Greyhounds walked out of Memorial Gardens on Wednesday night feeling good, despite dropping a 2-1 overtime decision to the Sarnia Sting.

The St. Basil Saints continue to roll in the High School Girls Basketball League as the senior Saints cruised to a 38-21 win over the Sir James Dunn Eagles on Tuesday. Kaitlin DeBoer led the Saints with nine points while Aine Coccimiglio added eight.

The Soo North Stars returned home on Sunday night with three of a possible four points from the Kapuskasing Flyers.

Jakub Cech had another outstanding game in net but the Soo Greyhounds still found themselves on the losing end of the scoreboard.

The Soo Thunderbirds received their first taste of defeat on Saturday night. After starting the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League season with 11 wins and two ties in 13 games, the Thunderbirds fell 6-4 to the Abitibi Eskimos in Iroquios Falls.

The St. Mary's Knights used a solid defense and a consistent offense to capture the High School Football League Junior Division City Championship. The Knight's held the St.
