DROWNING The Temagami Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is investigating a drowning incident which took place on Friday, September 3 on Cross Lake which is located in the Temagami Detachment area.

Ultra Light Plane Crash in French River Yesterday evening at 8:00pm, Noelville O.P.P. officers were dispatched to The Fish Tail Campground on Wolseley Bay Road, West Nipissing in response to reports of a plane crash into or near the Wolseley River.

RIDE CHECKS The O.P.P. conducted RIDE checks in the Echo Bay area last night. 100 vehicles were checked with one 12-hour suspension and two Liquor Licence Act charges laid.

RIDE TO TOWN COSTS $70.00 a 51-year-old Goulais Mission resident had a few too many beer last night and decided to take a nap on the shoulder of Highway 17 on the Blueberry Flats. Passing motorists were concerned that he might have been hit by a car.

BOATS AT MARINA ROBBED (Blind River, Ont.) – On Friday night sometime after 11 p.m. thieves went to the Blind River Marina and helped themselves to thousands of dollars of gear from seven boats that were docked there.

INTERNET SCAM Police are in the process of investigating a possible Fraud Scam from The IVORY COAST, AFRICA. A complainant went to the police station in Elliot Lake stating that she had wired a large amount of money to a person living in Africa.

THEFTS FROM CHURCH SOLVED The O.P.P. has charged two youths for breaking into the Mother of God Catholic Church in Goulais River on August 18. The church CD/cassette that was stolen has been recovered.

THEFT OF WALLET & PURSE The East Algoma O.P.P. is investigating two separate incidents where a purse and a wallet were stolen from an office in Elliot Lake. The first incident was reported on Monday.

GOULAIS RIVER FIRE Yesterday at 6:00 p.m., a house fire was reported on Pine Shores Road in Goulais River. The homeowner was outside when he noticed smoke coming from the residence.

BOATERS RESCUED BY FELLOW ANGLER Yesterday (Sunday) afternoon, two persons from Elliot Lake were aboard an 18-foot fishing boat on Lake Huron. The pair had been Salmon fishing between Muldrun Bay and Blind River.
