IT WAS CLOSE, BUT HWY 17 REMAINS OPEN Heyden, Ont. At 10:30 p.m. yesterday, officers from the Sault detachment of the O.P.P. were called to the mile hill just north of the Sault.

WARRANT ISSUED FOR ECHO BAY CRIMES Member of the Sault O.P.P. Crime Unit as well as the O.P.P. Rural and Agricultural Team have issued a warrant for a Sault Ste. Marie man for several crimes allegedly committed in the Echo Bay Area.

WEATHER CONDITIONS CAUSE TWO INJURY ACCIDENTS Batchewana The weather conditions on Hwy 17 in the Batchewana area again played a role in two minor injury accidents yesterday. At 9:00 a.m., a vehicle was northbound on Hwy 17.

HWY 17 EAST FROM SAULT TO BLIND RIVER OPEN Sault Ste Marie, Ont., Hwy 17 east from Sault Ste Marie through to Blind River has been re-opened to traffic.

WINTER STORM PARALYZES ENTIRE REGION Sault Ste Marie, Ont., A winter storm that is blasting Sault Ste Marie and area has brought this area to a virtual stand still. Highway 17 East is closed from the Sault to Blind River.

The Sault depatchment of the O.P.P. reports several minor accidents overnight with no serious injuries reported. Other than that it was a quiet 24-hour period.

HWY 17 NORTH RE-OPENED -- FOR NOW Sault Ste Marie, Ont., Hwy 17, north of Sault Ste Marie, from Heyden through to Wawa has just been re-opened to traffic. Visibility remains limited and the highway is snow covered and slippery.
