In 2025, country duo Donna and LeRoy and country/bluegrass band Whiskey Jack, all veterans of the CBC’s Tommy Hunter Show, will join forces for a trip down memory lane in theatres across Ontario. Donna Ramsay is no stranger to music fans in Algoma beginning her career in the 1950's on CJIC-TV. From Bar River in Laird, Duncan Fremlin also appeared with Donna on the Tommy Hunter Show and has been leading Whiskey Jack to great success ever sincd.
Legends of Canadian Country Music TV features Hall of Famer honourees (on both sides of the border), Donna and LeRoy. For 17 years they appeared on North America’s premiere country television show, the CBC’s Tommy Hunter Show.
Donna Ramsay is the real deal with a TV career dating back to 1957 when she began to sing on a local country music show in her hometown of Sault Ste. Marie (CJIC-TV). That morphed into appearances across North America, the highlight being The Don Messer Show. With a new record contract in hand, she met another young star, Alberta’s LeRoy Anderson. It wasn’t long before the newly married couple were spotted by Tommy Hunter and as they say, the rest is history.
