We were sadden to hear of Rita’s passing. She was a sweet remarkable woman who we got to know when she provided daycare for our daughter Helen. Calling it daycare is an understatement.Rita and Bernie cared for Helen as one of their own. Helen and Bernie watched cartoons together and she accompanied Rita everywhere, whether it be shopping, going to the dentist or hairdresser, or at the Catholic centre. As well, she often cooked my supper when Sylvia was working. I fondly remember coming home to pasta sauce or stuffed peppers. Her cooking was so good.
Helen would often opt to dine with Rita and Bernie.
When I arrived to pick her up she would quiz Rita and then me as to the menu, her choice was always Rita. She will be missed by the entire Stortini family. Our sincere sympathy.

The first time I saw Ted was in the early seventies in the games room of Lakehead U residence where I was taking a summer course.
He was at the pool table. He was balding prematurely, wore what we use to call “coke bottle “glasses but most remarkably wearing a purple shirt with puffy sleeves.
He was betting two other players he could make what seemed an impossible shot.
The next time I saw Ted was that fall in the staff room of SJD. This began a long and enduring friendship.
Ted was an excellent teacher, caring and thoughtful family man and a good loyal friend.
He played several sports but had never learned to skate. However when he heard the SJD “Bald Eagles”hockey team needed a goalie he learned to skate and joined the team. He was just that kind of guy. He will be missed.
By the way, he made that pool shot, but thankfully we never again saw the purple shirt with puffy sleeves.
Your friends, John &
