City Police Beat

City police had a fairly quiet night last night. Henry Cadeau, age 21 was charged with Trespass by Night and Theft from a Vehicle as well as Possession of stolen goods. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing this morning.

MYSTERIOUS MAN TAKES PICTURES OF YOUTH Yesterday after school a young male was taking his family pet for a walk near Parkland School when an older male with gray hair began taking pictures of him.

DRIVER CHARGE WITH IMPAIRED Yesterday at approximately 5:07 pm Lorne Lafleur, age 60 of 272 Wellington Street East was on Albert Street West where he was operating his 1995 Chrysler motor vehicle while his ability to do so was impaired by alcohol.

ARRESTED FOR STOLEN CHEQUES On or between the October 1 and the November 18, two blank cheques were stolen from an office located on the Garden River First Nation.

MAN ARRESTED FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING A 10-YEAR-OLD During a period of approximately two years in the late 1980's and early 1990's, Anthony Petroni, age 55 of 161 Goetz Street allegedly sexually assaulted a female youth at a private residence in Sault

THREE STOLEN VEHICLES RECOVERED Officers of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service recovered three stolen vehicles on the weekend. Six arrests were made in regards to the possession of these stolen vehicles.

City police had a fairly routine night last night with only one major occurrence. 21-year-old Dennis Charbonneau of 158 Brien Avenue was charged with unlawfully being in a dwelling. The female occupant called police when Charbonneau wouldn't leave.

City police were kept busy last night. Most of the calls were of a minor nature. Six young offenders were arrested for stealing three motor vehicles. One was stolen a couple of days ago and two last night.

BAWATING STUDENT CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER The Sault Ste Marie Police Service has arrested an 18-year-old male and charged him with attempted murder and possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to the public peace.

SCHOOL BUS ACCIDENT Yesterday at 8:35 am, the Sault Ste Marie Police Service investigated a motor vehicle collision between a car and a school bus. The accident took place on Northern Avenue just west of Great Northern Road.
